How to Bulk Create Short Videos for Social Media Using AI Tools
Why Short Videos?
Short videos are an incredibly powerful medium for engaging audiences. They are easy to consume, shareable, and effective in capturing attention. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels have skyrocketed in popularity due to their short-form content. Creating these videos can help you reach a broader audience and increase your visibility across multiple platforms.
Step 1: Generate Content with ChatGPT
The first step in creating these videos is to generate the content. For this example, I asked ChatGPT to generate 100 facts about relationships. ChatGPT is an AI language model that can produce text based on the prompts you provide. Here’s how you can do it:
- Open ChatGPT: Access ChatGPT and start a new conversation.
- Generate Facts: Ask ChatGPT to generate 100 facts about relationships, ensuring that each fact is no longer than 20 words. This length constraint is crucial as it ensures the facts fit neatly into the video templates without getting cut off.
Here’s an example prompt:
“Generate 100 facts about relationships, each no longer than 20 words.”
Once you have the facts, you can use them for your videos. In my previous video, I used the first 50 facts to create static images for social media. You can watch that video for additional inspiration and tips. For this tutorial, we’ll use the remaining 50 facts.
Step 2: Create Videos with Canva
Canva is a versatile design tool that makes it easy to create professional-quality visuals, including videos. There are two main approaches you can take when creating short videos with Canva: using pre-made templates or creating custom animations.
Option 1: Using Canva Templates
This method is straightforward and quick. Here’s how you can do it:
- Search for Templates: Open Canva and search for “mobile video quotes” in the templates section. Look for templates that have a large, legible font suitable for mobile devices. Avoid fonts that are too large, as they may not accommodate all the text.
- Customize the Template: Choose a template and click “Customize.” This will open the template in the editor.
- Find the Bulk Create Feature: In Canva, locate the Bulk Create feature by clicking on the Apps icon in the left menu and searching for “Bulk Create.” This feature allows you to automate the process of adding text to multiple slides.
- Add Text: Select the option to “Add data manually.” Name the first column “Facts,” and remove any additional columns by right-clicking and selecting “Remove.”
- Paste the Facts: Copy the facts generated by ChatGPT and paste them into the “Facts” column.
- Connect Data: Right-click the text area in your template, choose “Connect Data,” and select the “Facts” column. This will link the text box in your template to the facts you’ve added.
Once this is set up, Canva will generate 50 short videos using the template and the facts you provided. If you notice that the text overlaps or doesn’t fit properly, you can adjust the text box position and regenerate the videos.
Option 2: Creating Custom Animated Videos
Creating custom animated videos requires a bit more effort upfront, but it offers greater flexibility and customization. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- Create a Blank Canvas: Click on “Create Design” and type “Mobile Video” in the search bar. Choose a template with the appropriate resolution for mobile devices.
- Add Text Box: Add a text box for your facts. Initially, you can enter the word “Facts” as a placeholder. Position the text box high enough to ensure that longer facts will fit comfortably.
- Customize Text and Background: Adjust the font size to make it easily readable on mobile devices. Add a background color to enhance the visual appeal of your video.
- Add Animation to Text: Click on the text box and select an animation style. One of my favorites is the “Typewriter” animation, which adds a dynamic effect to the text.
- Add Animated Elements: In the Elements menu, search for “pattern backgrounds.” Apply a filter to show only animated patterns and choose those that allow color changes. This flexibility will be useful later when we customize the videos.
- Adjust Transparency: Reduce the transparency of the background pattern to around 20-30%. This ensures that the background doesn’t interfere with the text’s readability.
- Create Sample Text Box: Before bulk creating, add a sample text box with more text to ensure there is enough space for longer facts.
- Use the Bulk Create Feature: Go to Apps, find the Bulk Create feature, and manually copy and paste the facts from ChatGPT. Connect the data to the text box as described in the previous method.
After generating the videos, you’ll notice that they all look the same. To add variety, you can customize the colors and fonts for each video.
Adding Variety to Your Videos
To ensure that your videos don’t all look identical, you can change the color scheme and fonts for each video. Here’s how:
- Click on Design: In the left menu, click on “Design.”
- Go to Style Tab: Click on the Style tab and look for color combinations.
- Customize Each Video: Hover over each video and select a different color scheme. This will change the entire look of the video, including colors and fonts.
By using background patterns that allow color changes, you can quickly create a diverse set of videos without manually adjusting each one.
Download and Share
Once you’re satisfied with your videos, it’s time to download and share them:
- Download Videos: Click on the “Share” button, then select “Download.” Make sure to check the box to download each video separately. This ensures that Canva creates individual short videos rather than combining them into one long video.
- Post on Social Media: Now you have 50 unique short videos ready to post on any platform that supports short video formats. These platforms include TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Pinterest.
Leveraging Pinterest for Traffic
Pinterest is an excellent platform for driving free traffic to your website. Short videos perform well on Pinterest, with the recommended length being 6-15 seconds. By posting your videos on Pinterest, you can attract a large audience and drive traffic to your website.
Here are some tips for using Pinterest effectively:
- Optimize Your Pins: Use relevant keywords in your pin descriptions and titles to improve discoverability.
- Create Eye-Catching Thumbnails: Ensure your video thumbnails are visually appealing and clearly convey the content of your video.
- Add Links to Your Website: Include a link to your website in the pin description to drive traffic.
